Spain has been and continues to be very active in the promotion of microfinance in emerging and developing countries. In fact, it has been the world’s second largest bilateral donor. Did you know that?

There are many agents (public, private, foundations, social and academia) who are firmly committed to microfinance as a means to means to facilitate universal access to financial services. Do you know who we are?

It was at the Fifth Global Microcredit Summit held in Valladolid in November 2011, an extremely important event for all of those involved in the world of microfinance, that the imminent creation of the Spanish Microfinance Network was officially endorsed, with the support of the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID).
